YouTube channel Sansad TV uploaded a video of the discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on April 2, 2025. We noticed that in this session, Asaduddin Owaisi was wearing white while in the viral video he is seen wearing blue clothing. In other words, the viral footage cannot be from the debate on the Waqf Amendment Bill.
We also noticed that the viral video contained a watermark which read "AIMIM RR DISTRICT".
When we searched for this watermark, we came across an Instagram account named @aimim_rr_district. Upon further investigation, we that the video in question featuring Asaduddin Owaisi had been uploaded on August 7, 2024. This confirms that the source video is at least eight-month old.
Furthermore, Alt News also found a video posted on AIMIM's official Facebook page on August 7, 2024. Here, Asaduddin Owaisi is seen wearing a blue outfit similar to the one in the viral video. The caption of this post states that Asaduddin Owaisi raised the question of taxation on the poor and middle class during the monsoon session of Parliament.
Based on the above information, we found a longer video from the same day on the YouTube channel of Sansad TV. In this video uploaded on August 7, 2024, Owaisi can be seen sitting behind Independent MP Pappu Yadav. At the 4:32 mark in the video, scenes from the viral video appear in which Owaisi is seen taking off his glasses and rubbing his eyes with his hands.
Apart from this, the livestream of this session is available on the YouTube channel of Odisha Live as well. It also contains scenes from the viral video at the 4:46:52 mark, but nowhere is Asaduddin Owaisi seen getting emotional or weeping.
To sum up, an old video of Asaduddin Owaisi is being shared to falsely claim that he was weeping after the Waqf Bill was passed in Parliament.
