पंचतंत्र की कहानियां, (Stories of Panchatantra) Posted: 03 Dec 2021 08:53 PM PST पंचतंत्र की कहानियां, (Stories of Panchatantra)    कहानी (1) बडे नाम का चमत्कार  एक समय की बात है एक वन में हाथियों का एक झुंड रहता था। उस झुंड का सरदार चतुर्दंत नामक एक विशाल, पराक्रमी, गंभीर व समझदार हाथी था। सब उसी की छत्र-छाया में शुख से रहते थे। वह सबकी समस्याएं सुनता। उनका हल निकालता, छोटे-बडे सबका बराबर ख्याल रखता था। एक बार उस क्षेत्र में भयंकर सूखा पडा। वर्षों पानी नहीं बरसा। सारे ताल-तलैया सूखने लगे। पेड-पौधे कुम्हला गए धरती फट गई, चारों और हाहाकार मच गई। हर प्राणी बूंद-बूंद के लिए तरसता गया। हाथियों ने अपने सरदार से कहा "सरदार, कोई उपाय सोचिए। हम सब प्यासे मर रहे हैं। हमारे बच्चे तडप रहे हैं।" चतुर्दंत पहले ही सारी समस्या जानता था। सबके दुख समझता था पर उसकी समझ में नहीं आ रहा था कि क्या उपाय करे। सोचते-सोचते उसे बचपन की एक बात याद आई और चतुर्दंत ने कहा "मुझे ऐसा याद आता हैं कि मेरे दादाजी कहते थे, यहां से पूर्व दिशा में एक ताल हैं, जो भूमिगत जल से जुडे होने के कारण कभी नहीं सूखता। हमें वहां चलना चाहिए।" सभी को आशा की किरण नजर आई। हाथियों का झुंड चतुर्दंत द्वारा बताई गई दिशा की ओर चल पडा। बिना पानी के दिन की गर्मी में सफर करना कठिन था, अतः हाथी रात को सफर करते। पांच रात्रि के बाद वे उस अनोखे ताल तक पहुंच गए। सचमुच ताल पानी से भरा था सारे हातियों ने खूब पानी पिया जी भरकर ताल में नहाए व डुबकियां लगाईं। उसी क्षेत्र में खरगोशों की घनी आबादी थी। उनकी शामत आ गई। सैकडों खरगोश हाथियों के पैरों-तले कुचले गए। उनके बिल रौंदे गए। उनमें हाहाकार मच गया। बचे-कुचे खरगोशों ने एक आपातकालीन सभा की। एक खरगोश बोला "हमें यहां से भागना चाहिए।" एक तेज स्वभाव वाला खरगोश भागने के हक में नहीं था। उसने कहा "हमें अक्ल से काम लेना चाहिए। हाथी अंधविश्वासी होते हैं। हम उन्हें कहेंगे कि हम चंद्रवंशी हैं। तुम्हारे द्वारा किए खरगोश संहार से हमारे देव चंद्रमा रुष्ट हैं। यदि तुम यहां से नहीं गए तो चंद्रदेव तुम्हें विनाश का श्राप देंगे।" एक अन्य खरगोश ने उसका समर्थन किया "चतुर ठीक कहता हैं। उसकी बात हमें माननी चाहिए। लंबकर्ण खरगोश को हम अपना दूत बनाकर चतुर्दंत के पास भेंजेगे।" इस प्रस्ताव पर सब सहमत हो गए। लंबकर्ण एक बहुत चतुर खरगोश था। सारे खरगोश समाज में उसकी चतुराई की धाक थी। बातें बनाना भी उसे खूब आता था। बात से बात निकालते जाने में उसका जवाब नहीं था। जब खरगोशों ने उसे दूत बनकर जाने के लिए कहा तो वह तुरंत तैयार हो गया। खरगोशों पर आए संकट को दूर करके उसे प्रसन्नता ही होगी। लंबकर्ण खरगोश चतुर्दंत के पास पहुंचा और दूर से ही एक चट्टान पर चढकर बोला "गजनायक चतुर्दंत, मैं लंबकर्ण चन्द्रमा का दूत उनका संदेश लेकर आया हूं। चन्द्रमा हमारे स्वामी हैं।" चतुर्दंत ने पूछा " भई,क्या संदेश लाए हो तुम ?" लंबकर्ण बोला "तुमने खरगोश समाज को बहुत हानि पहुंचाई हैं। चन्द्रदेव तुमसे बहुत रुष्ट हैं। इससे पहले कि वह तुम्हें श्राप देदें, तुम यहां से अपना झुंड लेकर चले जाओ।" चतुर्दंत को विश्वास न हुआ। उसने कहा "चंद्रदेव कहां हैं? मैं खुद उनके दर्शन करना चाहता हूं।" लंबकर्ण बोला "उचित हैं। चंद्रदेव असंख्य मॄत खरगोशों को श्रद्धांजलि देने स्वयं ताल में पधारकर बैठे हैं, आईए, उनसे साक्षात्कार कीजिए और स्वयं देख लीजिए कि वे कितने रुष्ट हैं।" चालाक लंबकर्ण चतुर्दंत को रात में ताल पर ले आया। उस रात पूर्णमासी थी। ताल में पूर्ण चंद्रमा का बिम्ब ऐसे पड रहा था जैसे शीशे में प्रतिबिम्ब दिखाई पडता हैं। चतुर्दंत घबरा गया चालाक खरगोश हाथी की घबराहट ताड गया और विश्वास के साथ बोला "गजनायक, जरा नजदीक से चंद्रदेव का साक्षात्कार करें तो आपको पता लगेगा कि आपके झुंड के इधर आने से हम खरगोशों पर क्या बीती हैं। अपने भक्तों का दुख देखकर हमारे चंद्रदेवजी के दिल पर क्या गुजर रही है|" लंबकर्ण की बातों का गजराज पर जादू-सा असर हुआ। चतुर्दंत डरते-डरते पानी के निकट गया और सूंड चद्रंमा के प्रतिबिम्ब के निकट ले जाकर जांच करने लगा। सूंड पानी के निकट पहुंचने पर सूंड से निकली हवा से पानी में हलचल हुई और चद्रंमा ला प्रतिबिम्ब कई भागों में बंट गया और विकॄत हो गया। यह देखते ही चतुर्दंत के होश उड गए। वह हडबडाकर कई कदम पीछे हट गया। लंबकर्ण तो इसी बात की ताक में था। वह चीखा "देखा, आपको देखते ही चंद्रदेव कितने रुष्ट हो गए! वह क्रोध से कांप रहे हैं और गुस्से से फट रहे हैं। आप अपनी खैर चाहते हैं तो अपने झुंड के समेत यहां से शीघ्रातिशीघ्र प्रस्थान करें वर्ना चंद्रदेव पता नहीं क्या श्राप देदें।" चतुर्दंत तुरंत अपने झुंड के पास लौट गया और सबको सलाह दी कि उनका यहां से तुरंत प्रस्थान करना ही उचित होगा। अपने सरदार के आदेश को मानकर हाथियों का झुंड लौट गया। खरगोशों में खुशी की लहर दौड गई। हाथियों के जाने के कुछ ही दिन पश्चात आकाश में बादल आए, वर्षा हुई और सारा जल संकट समाप्त हो गया। हाथियों को फिर कभी उस ओर आने की जरूरत ही नहीं पडी। सीखः चतुराई से शारीरिक रुप से बलशाली शत्रु को भी मात दी जा सकती हैं। Story (1) big name miracle  Once upon a time there lived a herd of elephants in a forest.  The head of that herd was a huge, mighty, serious and intelligent elephant named Chaturdanta.  Everyone lived happily under his umbrella.  He listens to everyone's problems.  He solved them, used to take equal care of everyone, big and small.  Once there was a severe drought in that area.  It didn't rain for years.  All the pools started drying up.  Trees and plants withered, the earth exploded, there was an outcry all around.  Every creature yearned for every drop.  The elephants said to their chieftain, "Sardar, think of a solution.  We are all dying of thirst.  Our children are suffering." Chaturdant already knew the whole problem.  He understood everyone's pain but he could not understand what to do.  Thinking, he remembered a childhood thing and Chaturdanta said, "I remember my grandfather used to say, there is a pool in the east direction from here, which never dries up due to its connection with underground water.  We should go there."  Everyone saw a ray of hope.  The herd of elephants started walking towards the direction given by Chaturdanta.  It was difficult to travel in the heat of the day without water, so elephants would travel at night.  After five nights they reached that unique rhythm.  Really, the pool was full of water, all the elephants drank a lot of water and took bath and dipped in the pool.  There was a dense population of rabbits in the same area.  His evening has come.  Hundreds of rabbits were crushed under the feet of elephants.  His bills were trampled upon.  There was an outcry in them.  The remaining rabbits held an emergency meeting.  A rabbit said, "We must run away from here."  A quick-tempered rabbit was not in favor of running away.  He said, "We must act wisely.  Elephants are superstitious.  We will tell them that we are Chandravanshi.  Our god Moon is angry with the rabbit slaughter done by you.  If you don't leave from here, Chandradev will curse you with destruction."  Another rabbit supported him. "Clever is right.  We should obey him.  We will send Lambakarna rabbit as our messenger to Chaturdanta.  Everyone agreed to this proposal.  Lambakarna was a very clever rabbit.  All the rabbits were known for his cleverness in the society.  He also loved making things.  There was no answer in getting out of the conversation.  When the rabbits asked him to go as a messenger, he immediately agreed.  He will be happy to remove the trouble on the rabbits.  Lambakarna reached the rabbit Chaturdanta and climbed up a cliff from afar and said, "Gajnayak Chaturdanta, I have come with his message from Lambakarna, the messenger of the moon.  The moon is our master."  Chaturdanta asked, "Brother, what message have you brought?"  Lambakarna said, "You have caused a lot of harm to the rabbit community.  Chandradev is very angry with you.  Before he curses you, you go away with your flock."  Chaturdanta could not believe it.  He said "Where is Chandradev?  I want to see him myself."  Lambakarna said "It is right.  Chandradev himself is sitting in the pool to pay homage to the innumerable dead rabbits, come, interview them and see for yourself how angry they are.  The clever Lambakarna brought Chaturdanta to the pool in the night.  That night was full moon.  The image of the full moon was falling in the pool as if the image was visible in the mirror.  Chaturdanta was terrified, the cunning rabbit sensed the elephant's nervousness and said with confidence, "Gajnayak, just interview Chandradev from close quarters and you will know what happened to us rabbits when your flock comes here.  Seeing the misery of her devotees, what is passing on the heart of our Chandradevji.  The words of Lambakarna had a magical effect on Gajraj.  Chaturdanta fearfully went near the water and began to examine by taking the trunk near the image of the moon.  When the trunk approached the water, the air coming out of the trunk stirred the water and the moon's image was divided into many parts and distorted.  Seeing this, Chaturdanta's senses were blown away.  He stuttered and took several steps back.  Lambakarna was in search of the same thing.  He cried "Look, how angry Chandradev became on seeing you!  He is trembling with anger and bursting with anger.  If you want your well being, then leave with your flock as soon as possible or else Chandradev does not know what to curse.  Chaturdanta immediately returned to his flock and advised everyone that it would be appropriate for them to leave immediately.  Following the orders of his chieftain, the herd of elephants returned.  A wave of happiness ran among the rabbits.  A few days after the elephants left, clouds came in the sky, it rained and all the water crisis ended.  The elephants never needed to come that way again.  Lesson: With cleverness, even a physically strong enemy can be defeated. ______________________________________________________ कहानी (2) अक्लमंद हंस एक बहुत बडा विशाल पेड था। उस पर बीसीयों हंस रहते थे। उनमें एक बहुत स्याना हंस था,बुद्धिमान और बहुत दूरदर्शी। सब उसका आदर करते 'ताऊ' कहकर बुलाते थे। एक दिन उसने एक नन्ही-सी बेल को पेड के तने पर बहुत नीचे लिपटते पाया। ताऊ ने दूसरे हंसों को बुलाकर कहा "देखो,इस बेल को नष्ट कर दो। एक दिन यह बेल हम सबको मौत के मुंह में ले जाएगी।एक युवा हंस हंसते हुए बोला "ताऊ, यह छोटी-सी बेल हमें कैसे मौत के मुंह में ले जाएगी?"स्याने हंस ने समझाया "आज यह तुम्हें छोटी-सी लग रही हैं। धीरे-धीरे यह पेड के सारे तने को लपेटा मारकर ऊपर तक आएगी। फिर बेल का तना मोटा होने लगेगा और पेड से चिपक जाएगा, तब नीचे से ऊपर तक पेड पर चढने के लिए सीढी बन जाएगी। कोई भी शिकारी सीढी के सहारे चढकर हम तक पहुंच जाएगा और हम मारे जाएंगे।" दूसरे हंस को यकीन न आया "एक छोटी सी बेल कैसे सीढी बनेगी?" तीसरा हंस बोला "ताऊ, तु तो एक छोटी-सी बेल को खींचकर ज्यादा ही लम्बा कर रहा है।" एक हंस बडबडाया "यह ताऊ अपनी अक्ल का रौब डालने के लिए अंट-शंट कहानी बना रहा हैं।" इस प्रकार किसी दूसरे हंस ने ताऊ की बात को गंभीरता से नहीं लिया। इतनी दूर तक देख पाने की उनमें अक्ल कहां थी? समय बीतता रहा। बेल लिपटते-लिपटह्टे ऊपर शाखों तक पहुंच गई। बेल का तना मोटा होना शुरु हुआ और सचमुच ही पेड के तने पर सीढी बन गई। जिस पर आसानी से चढा जा सकता था। सबको ताऊ की बात की सच्चाई सामने नजर आने लगी। पर अब कुछ नहीं किया जा सकता था क्योंकि बेल इतनी मजबूत हो गई थी कि उसे नष्ट करना हंसों के बस की बात नहीं थी। एक दिन जब सब हंस दाना चुगने बाहर गए हुए थे तब एक बहेलिआ उधर आ निकला। पेड पर बनी सीढी को देखते ही उसने पेड पर चढकर जाल बिछाया और चला गया। सांझ को सारे हंस लौट आए पेड पर उतरे तो बहेलिए के जाल में बुरी तरह फंस गए। जब वे जाल में फंस गए और फडफडाने लगे, तब उन्हें ताऊ की बुद्धिमानी और दूरदर्शिता का पता लगा। सब ताऊ की बात न मानने के लिए लज्जित थे और अपने आपको कोस रहे थे। ताऊ सबसे रुष्ट था और चुप बैठा था। एक हंस ने हिम्मत करके कहा "ताऊ, हम मूर्ख हैं, लेकिन अब हमसे मुंह मत फेरो।' दूसरा हंस बोला "इस संकट से निकालने की तरकीब तू ही हमें बता सकता हैं। आगे हम तेरी कोई बात नहीं टालेंगे।" सभी हंसों ने हामी भरी तब ताऊ ने उन्हें बताया "मेरी बात ध्यान से सुनो। सुबह जब बहेलिया आएगा, तब मुर्दा होने का नाटक करना। बहेलिया तुम्हें मुर्दा समझकर जाल से निकाल कर जमीन पर रखता जाएगा। वहां भी मरे समान पडे रहना। जैसे ही वह अन्तिम हंस को नीचे रखेगा, मैं सीटी बजाऊंगा। मेरी सीटी सुनते ही सब उड जाना।" सुबह बहेलिया आया। हंसो ने वैसा ही किया, जैसा ताऊ ने समझाया था। सचमुच बहेलिया हंसों को मुर्दा समझकर जमीन पर पटकता गया। सीटी की आवाज के साथ ही सारे हंस उड गए। बहेलिया अवाक होकर देखता रह गया। सीखः बुद्धिमानों की सलाह गंभीरता से लेनी चाहिए। Story (2) smart goose  It was a huge tree.  B.C. used to laugh at it.  Among them was a very grown-up swan, intelligent and very visionary.  Everyone respected him and called him 'Tau'.  One day he found a small vine draping very low on the trunk of the tree.  Tau called the other swans and said, "Look, destroy this vine.  One day this vine will take us all to death."  A young swan laughed and said, "Tau, how will this little vine take us to death?"  Sayne Hans explained, "You are looking small today.  Gradually it will come up to the top by wrapping all the stems of the tree.  Then the stem of the vine will start getting thick and will stick to the tree, then a ladder will be made to climb the tree from bottom to top.  Any hunter will climb up the ladder and reach us and we will be killed.  The other swan could not believe, "How can a small vine become a ladder?"  The third swan said, "Tau, you are stretching a small vine too long."  A swan murmured. "This tau is making up an ant-shunt story to amuse his intelligence."  Thus no other swan took Tau's words seriously.  Where was his wisdom to see so far?  Time kept on passing by.  The vine wrapped itself up to the branches.  The stem of the vine began to thicken and literally a ladder was formed on the trunk of the tree.  which could be easily climbed.  Everyone started seeing the truth of Tau's talk.  But now nothing could be done because the vine had become so strong that it was not for the swans to destroy it.  One day when all the swans had gone out to pick the grain, then a fowler came there.  On seeing the ladder made on the tree, he climbed the tree and laid a trap and left.  When all the swans returned in the evening and landed on the tree, they were badly caught in the trap of the fowler.  When they got caught in the net and started fluttering, they came to know about Tau's wisdom and foresight.  Everyone was ashamed for not listening to Tau and was cursing himself.  Uncle was annoyed and silent.  A swan dared to say "Tau, we are fools, but don't turn your back on us now."  The second goose said, "Only you can tell us the trick to get out of this crisis.  We will not postpone your talk any further."  When all the swans agreed, Tau told them, "Listen to me carefully.  When the fowler comes in the morning, then pretend to be dead.  The fowler will take you out of the net considering you to be dead and keep it on the ground.  Stay dead there too.  I'll blow the whistle as soon as he puts down the last goose.  Everyone flies away as soon as I hear my whistle.  Fowler came in the morning.  Hanso did as Tau had explained.  In fact, the fowler mistook the swans as dead and threw them on the ground.  With the sound of the whistle, all the swans flew away.  Fowler kept looking speechless.  Lesson: The advice of the wise should be taken seriously.
