KCC money can be used for multiple purposes such as meeting short term credit requirements to cultivate crops, post harvest expenses, household expenses. Farmers can even utilize this money for working capital requirements of farming, investment for agricultural purpose and market expenses for produce.

Kisan Credit Card Scheme Features

Kisan Credit Card Scheme is a type of crop loan provided to farmers with necessary credit to meet their working capital needs. However, the KCC loan can be used for a number of other purposes and not just to meet working capital requirements. The Kisan Credit Card Loan is valid for a duration of 5 years which can be extended for 3 more years.

Moreover, the actual tenure depends on type of activity which farmers plan to use money for. In order to avail farm loan, farmers will have to meet the eligibility criteria set by the bank and provide them with the necessary documents. These documents include identity proof documents and address proof documents.

The interest rate for Kisan Credit Card Scheme has been left to the discretion of the bank. However, as per the KCC circular, the interest rate is 7% p.a. on short-term credit. There is Rs. 3 lakh upper limit on the principal amount.

How Banks determine the credit limit on a Kisan Credit Card (KCC)
The credit limit for farmers which is offered on a Kisan Credit Card for the initial year is based on the following parameters:-

  • Household / post-harvest consumption requirements.
  • Expenses related to the maintenance of crop insurance, farm assets, Asset insurance and Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (PAIS).
Moreover, the revolving cash credit facility is even available on KCC cards for an unlimited number of withdrawals and repayments made within the credit limit.

While making application for KCC scheme, farmers are required to provide the following security:-

-- For card limits up to Rs. 1 lakh - Hypothecation of crops as per prevailing RBI guidelines.
-- For card limits up to Rs. 3 lakh - Hypothecation of crops, additional collateral security at the issuing bank's discretion.

Dear readers, you must read this article to know different aspects regarding the self reliant farming integrated development scheme.

What is UP Atmanirbhar Krishak Samanvit Vikas Yojana 2022

As the assembly elections are upcoming in the Uttar Pradesh state in FY 2022, UP cabinet has approved a scheme to boost agriculture sector. The name of the scheme is UP Atmanirbhar Krishak Samanvit Vikas Yojana This scheme will be implemented from the current financial year.  In this scheme, the state govt. will form farmer producer organizations (FPOs) in different development blocks of Uttar Pradesh.

In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the cabinet on 3 December 2021 gave its nod to implement Atma Nirbhar Krishak Integrated Development Scheme in Uttar Pradesh from 2021-22.

Formation of FPOs in UP Atmanirbhar Krishak Samavit Vikas Yojana

Under UP Atmanirbhar Krishak Samavit Vikas Yojana, around 1,475 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) will be formed in the next three years in each development block of the state. As per the official statement from UP government, the state government is likely to bear an expenditure of Rs. 1,220.92 crore for implementation of the scheme from financial year 2021-22 to 2031-32.

Utilizing Budget under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund

UP Atmanirbhar Krishak Samanvit Vikas Yojana will also help in achieving the target of utilising a budget of Rs 12,000 crore allotted to the state by the central govt. under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF). Earlier on 8 July 2020, the union cabinet had approved the AIF scheme. The Agricultural Infrastructure Fund Scheme shall provide a medium to long-term debt financing facility for investment in viable projects for post-harvest management infrastructure and community farming assets through interest subvention and financial support.

Under the AIF scheme, Rs. 1 lakh crore will be provided by banks and financial institutions as loans to Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, Marketing Cooperative Societies, FPOs, Self Help Groups, farmers, joint liability groups, multipurpose cooperative societies, agri-entrepreneurs, startups, aggregation infrastructure providers and central/state agency or local body sponsored Public Private Partnership Project.
All loans under this financing facility will have interest subvention of 3 per cent per annum up to a limit of Rs 2 crore. This subvention will be available for a maximum period of seven years.
