(1) बच्चे की शिक्षा
फ्रांसिस वेलेंड पार्कर अमरीका के प्रसिद्ध शिक्षा विशेषज्ञ थे। बहुत दूर-दूर से लोग बच्चों की शिक्षा के बारे में उनसे परामर्श लेने आया करते थे। एक दिन उनका कहीं भाषण हो रहा था। भाषण पूरा होने पर एक महिला उनके पास आई। उसने पार्कर महोदय से सवाल किया, ''मैं अपने बच्चे का शिक्षण प्रारंभ करना चाहती हूँ। इसके लिए कौन सा समय ठीक होगा ?''
पार्कर ने पूछा, ''आपका बच्चा कब पैदा हुआ ?''
यह सुनकर महिला को बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ। बोली, ''बच्चा तो आज से पाँच वर्ष पहले पैदा हो चुका है।''
पार्कर ने कहा, ''श्रीमतीजी, तब तो आपने अपने बच्चे के पाँच सुनहरे वर्ष बरबाद कर दिए। शिक्षण का कार्य तो बच्चे के जन्म के साथ ही शुरू हो जाना चाहिए। जल्दी घर जाइए और बच्चे का शिक्षण अभी से शुरू कर दीजिए।''
ज्ञान और शिक्षा के लिए कोई समय बंधन नहीं है। child's education
Francis Welland Parker was a famous education expert of America. People from far and wide used to come to consult him regarding the education of the children. One day he was giving a speech somewhere. At the end of the speech, a woman came to him. She asked Parker, "I want to start my child's education. What would be the right time for this?"
Parker asked, "When was your baby born?"
The woman was surprised to hear this. She said, "The child has been born five years ago from today."
Parker said, "Mrs, then you wasted your child's five golden years. The work of education should start with the birth of the child. Go home early and start your child's education from now on."

(2) नकली मोर
एक कौए ने मोर के पंख लगा लिये और अपने को मोर समझकर मोरों की एक टोली में जा घुसा। उसे देखकर मोरों की टोली ने उसे फौरन पहचान लिया। फिर क्या ! दूसरे ही पल सारे मोर उसपर झपट पड़े। चोंच मारकर उसे अपनी टोली से दूर खदेड़ दिया। रुआँसा होकर कौआ अपनी जमात में वापस लौट आया। उसके अपने भाई-बंधु भी उसकी इस हरकत से नाराज हो गए थे। वे भी उस पर टूट पड़े। सौरे कौओं ने मिलकर उसके पंख नोच डाले।

A crow put on peacock feathers and assuming himself as a peacock, entered a group of peacocks. Seeing him, the group of peacocks recognized him immediately. Then what ! The next moment all the peacocks pounced on him. He pushed him away from his team by beaking him. With tears, the crow returned to his tribe. His own brothers and sisters were also annoyed by his action. They too broke down on him. Soura crows together plucked his feathers.

(3) भला आदमी
एक धनी पुरुष ने एक मन्दिर बनवाया। मन्दिर में भगवान् की पूजा करने के लिए एक पुजारी रखा। मन्दिर के खर्च के लिये बहुत- सी भूमि, खेत और बगीचे मन्दिर के नाम कर दिए। उन्होंने ऐसा प्रबंध किया था कि जो भूखे, दीन -दुःखी या साधु संत आएँ, वे वहाँ दो- चार दिन ठहर सकें और उनको भोजन के लिए भगवान् का प्रसाद मन्दिर से मिल जाया करे। अब उन्हें एक ऐसे व्यक्ति की आवश्यकता थी, जो मन्दिर की सम्पत्ति का प्रबंध करे और मन्दिर के सब कामों को ठीक- ठीक चलाता रहे।
बहुत से लोग उस धनी पुरुष के पास आये। वे लोग जानते थे कि यदि मन्दिर की व्यवस्था का काम मिल जाय तो वेतन अच्छा मिलेगा। लेकिन उस धनी पुरुष ने सबको लौटा दिया। वह सबसे कहता, मुझे एक भला आदमी चाहिये, मैं उसको अपने- आप छाँट लूँगा।'
बहुत से लोग मन ही मन उस धनी पुरुष को गालियाँ देते थे। बहुत लोग उसे मूर्ख या पागल कहते। लेकिन वह धनी पुरुष किसी की बात पर ध्यान नहीं देता था। जब मन्दिर के पट खुलते थे और लोग भगवान् के दर्शनों के लिये आने लगते थे, तब वह धनी पुरुष अपने मकान की छत पर बैठकर मन्दिर में आने वाले लोगों को चुपचाप देखा करता था।
एक दिन एक व्यक्ति मन्दिर में दर्शन करने आया। उसके कपड़े मैले फटे हुए थे। वह बहुत पढ़ा- लिखा भी नहीं जान पड़ता था। जब वह भगवान् का दर्शन करके जाने लगा, तब धनी पुरुष ने उसे अपने पास बुलाया और कहा- 'क्या आप इस मन्दिर की व्यवस्था सँभालने का काम स्वीकारकरेंगे?'
वह व्यक्ति बड़े आश्चर्य में पड़ गया। उसने कहा- 'मैं तो बहुत पढ़ा- लिखा नहीं हूँ। मैं इतने बड़े मन्दिर का प्रबन्ध कैसे कर सकूँगा?'
धनी पुरुष ने कहा- 'मुझे बहुत विद्वान् नहीं चाहिए। मैं तो एक भले आदमी को मन्दिर का प्रबंधक बनाना चाहता हूँ।'
मैं जानता हूँ कि आप भले आदमी हैं। मन्दिर के रास्ते में एक ईंट का टुकड़ा गड़ा रह गया था और उसका एक कोना ऊपर निकला था। मैं इधर बहुत दिनों से देखता था कि ईंट के टुकड़े की नोक से लोगों को ठोकर लगती थी। लोग गिरते थे, लुढ़कते थे और उठकर चल देते थे। आपको उस टुकड़े से ठोकर नहीं लगी; किन्तु आपने उसे देखकर ही उखाड़ देने का यत्नं किया। मैं देख रहा था कि आप मेरे मजदूर से फावड़ा माँगकर ले गये और उस टुकड़े को खोदकर आपने वहाँ की भूमि भी बराबर कर दी।
उस व्यक्ति ने कहा- 'यह तो कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है। रास्ते में पड़े काँटे, कंकड़ और ठोकर लगने वाले पत्थर, ईटों को हटा देना तो प्रत्येक मनुष्य का कर्त्तव्य है।'धनी पुरुष ने कहा- 'अपने कर्त्तव्य को जानने और पालन करने वाले लोग ही भले आदमी होते हैं।' मैं आपको ही मंदिर का प्रबंधक बनाना चाहता हूँ।' वह व्यक्ति मन्दिर का प्रबन्धक बन गया और उसने मन्दिर का बड़ा सुन्दर प्रबन्ध किया।
good man
A rich man built a temple. A priest was kept in the temple to worship the Lord. For the expenses of the temple, many land, fields and gardens were given in the name of the temple. He had made such arrangements that those who come hungry, poor or sad or sage saints, they can stay there for two or four days and they should get the prasad of the Lord from the temple for food. Now they needed a person who would manage the property of the temple and keep all the affairs of the temple running smoothly.
Many people came to the rich man. They knew that if they get the work of arranging the temple, the salary will be good. But the rich man returned them all. He would say to everyone, I want a good man, I will sort him out by myself.'
Many people used to abuse that rich man in their mind. Many called him a fool or a lunatic. But the rich man did not pay heed to anyone. When the doors of the temple were opened and people started coming to see the Lord, the rich man sat on the roof of his house and silently watched the people coming to the temple.
One day a man came to visit the temple. His clothes were torn. He didn't even seem to read much. When he started leaving after seeing the Lord, the rich man called him to him and said- 'Will you accept the job of managing this temple?'
The man was in great surprise. He said- 'I am not very educated and written. How can I manage such a big temple?'
The rich man said- 'I do not want many scholars. I want to make a good man the manager of the temple.
I know you are a good man. On the way to the temple, a piece of brick remained buried and one of its corners had protruded. I used to see here for a long time that people used to stumble with the tip of a piece of brick. People used to fall, roll and get up and walk. You didn't stumble from that piece; But you tried to uproot him just by looking at him. I was seeing that you took my laborer after asking for a shovel and by digging that piece, you equalized the land there too.
The man said- 'It is not a big deal. It is the duty of every human being to remove the thorns, pebbles and stumbling stones, bricks lying in the way. I want to become the manager of the temple. (4) स्वर्ग के दर्शन
लक्ष्मी नारायण बहुत भोला लड़का था। वह प्रतिदिन रात में सोने से पहले अपनी दादी से कहानी सुनाने को कहता था। दादी उसे नागलोक, पाताल, गन्धर्व लोक, चन्द्रलोक, सूर्यलोक आदि की कहानियाँ सुनाया करती थी। एक दिन दादी ने उसे स्वर्ग का वर्णन सुनाया। स्वर्ग का वर्णन इतना सुन्दर था कि उसे सुनकर लक्ष्मी नारायण स्वर्ग देखने के लिये हठ करने लगा।
दादी ने उसे बहुत समझाया कि मनुष्य स्वर्ग नहीं देख सकता, किन्तु लक्ष्मीनारायण रोने लगा। रोते- रोते ही वह सो गया। उसे स्वप्न में दिखायी पड़ा कि एक चम- चम चमकते देवता उसके पास खड़े होकर कह रहे हैं- ''बच्चे! स्वर्ग देखने के लिये मूल्य देना पड़ता है। तुम सरकस देखने जाते हो तो टिकट देते हो न? स्वर्ग देखने के लिये भी तुम्हें उसी प्रकार रुपये देने पड़ेंगे।''
स्वप्न में लक्ष्मीनारायण सोचने लगा कि मैं दादी से रुपये माँगूँगा। लेकिन देवता ने कहा- स्वर्ग में तुम्हारे रुपये नहीं चलते। यहाँ तो भलाई और पुण्यकर्मों का रुपया चलता है। अच्छा, काम करोगे तो एक रुपया इसमें आ जायगा और जब कोई बुरा काम करोगे तो एक रुपया इसमें से उड़ जायगा। जब यह डिबिया भर जायगी, तब तुम स्वर्ग देख सकोगे।
जब लक्ष्मीनारायण की नींद टूटी तो उसने अपने सिरहाने सचमुच एक डिबिया देखी। डिबिया लेकर वह बड़ा प्रसन्न हुआ। उस दिन उसकी दादी ने उसे एक पैसा दिया। पैसा लेकर वह घर से निकला। एक रोगी भिखारी उससे पैसा माँगने लगा। लक्ष्मीनारायण भिखारी को बिना पैसा दिये भाग जाना चाहता था, इतने में उसने अपने अध्यापक को सामने से आते देखा। उसके अध्यापक उदार लड़कों की बहुत प्रशंसा किया करते थे। उन्हें देखकर लक्ष्मीनारायण ने भिखारी को पैसा दे दिया। अध्यापक ने उसकी पीठ ठोंकी और प्रशंसा की।
घर लौटकर लक्ष्मीनारायण ने वह डिबिया खोली, किन्तु वह खाली पड़ी थी। इस बात से लक्ष्मी नारायण को बहुत दुःख हुआ। वह रोते- रोते सो गया। सपने में उसे वही देवता फिर दिखायी पड़े और बोले- तुमने अध्यापक से प्रशंसा पाने के लिये पैसा दिया था, सो प्रशंसा मिल गयी। अब रोते क्यों हो? किसी लाभ की आशा से जो अच्छा काम किया जाता है, वह तो व्यापार है, वह पुण्य थोड़े ही है।
दूसरे दिन लक्ष्मीनारायण को उसकी दादी ने दो आने पैसे दिये। पैसे लेकर उसने बाजार जाकर दो संतरे खरीदे। उसका साथी मोतीलाल बीमार था। बाजार से लौटते समय वह अपने मित्र को देखने उसके घर चला गया। मोतीलाल को देखने उसके घर वैद्य आये थे। वैद्य जी ने दवा देकर मोती लाल की माता से कहा- इसे आज संतरे का रस देना। मोतीलाल की माता बहुत गरीब थी। वह रोने लगी और बोली- 'मैं मजदूरी करके पेट भरती हूँ। इस समय बेटे की बीमारी में कई दिन से काम करने नहीं जा सकी। मेरे पास संतरे खरीदने के लिये एक भी पैसा नहीं है।'
लक्ष्मीनारायण ने अपने दोनों संतरे मोतीलाल की माँ को दिये। वह लक्ष्मीनारायण को आशीर्वाद देने लगी। घर आकर जब लक्ष्मीनारायण ने अपनी डिबिया खोली तो उसमें दो रुपये चमक रहे थे।
एक दिन लक्ष्मीनारायण खेल में लगा था। उसकी छोटी बहिन वहाँ आयी और उसके खिलौनों को उठाने लगी। लक्ष्मीनारायण ने उसे रोका। जब वह न मानी तो उसने उसे पीट दिया। बेचारी लड़की रोने लगी। इस बार जब उसने डिबिया खोली तो देखा कि उसके पहले के इकट्ठे कई रुपये उड़ गये हैं। अब उसे बड़ा पश्चाताप हुआ। उसने आगे कोई बुरा काम न करने का पक्का निश्चय कर लिया।
मनुष्य जैसे काम करता है, वैसा उसका स्वभाव हो जाता है। जो बुरे काम करता है, उसका स्वभाव बुरा हो जाता है। उसे फिर बुरा काम करने में ही आनन्द आता है। जो अच्छा काम करता है, उसका स्वभाव अच्छा हो जाता है। उसे बुरा काम करने की बात भी बुरी लगती है। लक्ष्मीनारायण पहले रुपये के लोभ से अच्छा काम करता था। धीरे- धीरे उसका स्वभाव ही अच्छा काम करने का हो गया। अच्छा काम करते- करते उसकी डिबिया रुपयों से भर गयी। स्वर्ग देखने की आशा से प्रसन्न होता, उस डिबिया को लेकर वह अपने बगीचे में पहुँचा।
लक्ष्मीनारायण ने देखा कि बगीचे में पेड़ के नीचे बैठा हुआ एक बूढ़ा साधु रो रहा है। वह दौड़ता हुआ साधु के पास गया और बोला- 'बाबा! आप क्यों रो रहे है?'
साधु बोला- बेटा जैसी डिबिया तुम्हारे हाथ में है, वैसी ही एक डिबिया मेरे पास थी। बहुत दिन परिश्रम करके मैंने उसे रुपयों से भरा था। बड़ी आशा थी कि उसके रुपयों से स्वर्ग देखूँगा, किन्तु आज गङ्गा जी में स्नान करते समय वह डिबिया पानी में गिर गयी।
लक्ष्मी नारायण ने कहा- 'बाबा! आप रोओ मत। मेरी डिबिया भी भरी हुई है। आप इसे ले लो।'
साधु बोला- 'तुमने इसे बड़े परिश्रम से भरा है, इसे देने से तुम्हें दुःख होगा।'
लक्ष्मी नारायण ने कहा- 'मुझे दुःख नहीं होगा बाबा! मैं तो लड़का हूँ। मुझे तो अभी बहुत दिन जीना है। मैं तो ऐसी कई डिबिया रुपये इकट्ठे कर सकता हुँ। आप बूढ़े हो गये हैं। आप मेरी डिबिया लेलीजिये।'
साधु ने डिबिया लेकर लक्ष्मीनारायण के नेत्रों पर हाथ फेर दिया। लक्ष्मीनारायण के नेत्र बंद हो गये। उसे स्वर्ग दिखायी पड़ने लगा। ऐसा सुन्दर स्वर्ग कि दादी ने जो स्वर्ग का वर्णन किया था, वह वर्णन तो स्वर्ग के एक कोने का भी ठीक वर्णन नहीं था।
जब लक्ष्मीनारायण ने नेत्र खोले तो साधु के बदले स्वप्न में दिखायी पड़ने वाला वही देवता उसके सामने प्रत्यक्ष खड़ा था। देवता ने कहा- बेटा! जो लोग अच्छे काम करते हैं, उनका घर स्वर्ग बन जाता है। तुम इसी प्रकार जीवन में भलाई करते रहोगे तो अन्त में स्वर्ग में पहुँच जाओगे।' देवता इतना कहकर वहीं अदृश्य हो गये।
vision of heaven
Laxmi Narayan was a very naive boy. He used to ask his grandmother to tell a story every night before sleeping. Grandmother used to tell him the stories of Nagalok, Patal, Gandharva Lok, Chandralok, Suryalok etc. One day the grandmother told him the description of heaven. The description of heaven was so beautiful that listening to it, Lakshmi Narayan started insisting to see heaven.
Grandmother explained a lot to him that man cannot see heaven, but Laxminarayan started crying. He fell asleep crying. He had seen in the dream that a brightly shining deity was standing beside him and saying – "Children! There is a price to be paid to see heaven. When you go to see the circus, you give tickets, don't you? You will have to pay the same amount to see heaven.
In the dream, Laxminarayan thought that I would ask for money from grandmother. But the deity said – Your money does not move in heaven. Here money goes for good and virtuous deeds. Well, if you do good work, then one rupee will come in it and when you do bad work, one rupee will fly out of it. When this box is full, then you will be able to see heaven.
When Laxminarayan lost his sleep, he actually saw a box at his head. He was very happy with the box. That day his grandmother gave him a penny. He left the house with the money. A sick beggar started asking him for money. Laxminarayan wanted to run away without paying the beggar, so he saw his teacher coming from the front. His teachers praised generous boys very much. Seeing them, Laxminarayan gave money to the beggar. The teacher turned his back and praised him.
After returning home, Laxminarayan opened that box, but it was lying empty. This made Lakshmi Narayan very sad. He fell asleep crying. The same deity appeared to him again in the dream and said - You had given money to get praise from the teacher, so you got the praise. Why are you crying now? The good work that is done with the hope of some profit is business, it is not a virtue.
On the second day, Laxminarayan was given two annas by his grandmother. Taking money, he went to the market and bought two oranges. His partner Motilal was ill. While returning from the market, he went to see his friend at her house. Vaidya had come to see Motilal at his house. Vaidya gave medicine and said to Moti Lal's mother – give it orange juice today. Motilal's mother was very poor. She started crying and said- 'I work as a laborer to feed my stomach. At this time, due to the illness of the son, he could not go to work for several days. I don't have a single penny to buy oranges.
Laxminarayan gave both his oranges to Motilal's mother. She started blessing Laxminarayan. When Laxminarayan opened his box after coming home, two rupees were shining in it.
One day Laxminarayan was engaged in sports. His younger sister came there and started picking up his toys. Laxminarayan stopped him. When she did not agree, he beat her. The poor girl started crying. This time when he opened the box, he saw that many of the rupees he had collected earlier had gone away. Now he felt great remorse. He made a firm determination not to do any bad deed in the future.
The way a man acts, so does his nature. Whoever does bad deeds, his nature becomes bad. He takes pleasure in doing bad things again. One who does good deeds, his nature becomes good. He also feels bad about doing bad things. Laxminarayan earlier used to do good work out of greed for money. Gradually, it became his nature to do good work. While doing good work, his box was filled with money. Delighted with the hope of seeing heaven, he took that box and reached his garden.
Laxminarayan saw an old sadhu sitting under a tree in the garden crying. He ran to the monk and said- 'Baba! Why are you crying?'
The sage said - Son, I had a box like the box in your hand. After working hard for many days, I filled him with money. There was a great hope that I would see heaven with her money, but today while taking a bath in Ganga ji, that box fell into the water.
Lakshmi Narayan said- 'Baba! you don't cry My box is full too. You take it.'
The monk said- 'You have filled it with great effort, you will be sad to give it.'
Laxmi Narayan said- 'I will not be sad, Baba! I'm a boy I still have many days to live. I can collect many such boxes of Rs. You are old. You take my box.'
The sadhu took the box and put his hand on Laxminarayan's eyes. Laxminarayan's eyes closed. He started seeing heaven. Such a beautiful heaven that the description of heaven that grandmother had described was not a proper description of even a corner of heaven.
When Laxminarayan opened his eyes, the same deity who appeared in the dream instead of the monk was standing directly in front of him. The god said- son! Those who do good deeds, their home becomes heaven. If you keep doing good in life like this, then you will reach heaven in the end.' The deities disappeared there saying this.
धर्म का मर्म
एक साधु शिष्यों के साथ कुम्भ के मेले में भ्रमण कर रहे थे। एक स्थान पर उनने एक बाबा को माला फेरते देखा। लेकिन वह बाबा माला फेरते- फेरते बार- बार आँखें खोलकर देख लेते कि लोगों ने कितना दान दिया है। साधु हँसे व आगे बढ़ गए।
आगे एक पंडित जी भागवत कह रहे थे, पर उनका चेहरा यंत्रवत था। शब्द भी भावों से कोई संगति नहीं खा रहे थे, चेलों की जमात बैठी थी। उन्हें देखकर भी साधु खिल- खिलाकर हँस पड़े।
थोड़ा आगे बढ़ने पर इस मण्डली को एक व्यक्ति रोगी की परिचर्या करता मिला। वह उसके घावों को धोकर मरहम पट्टी कर रहा था। साथ ही अपनी मधुर वाणी से उसे बार- बार सांत्वना दे रहा था। साधु कुछ देर उसे देखते रहे, उनकी आँखें छलछला आईं।
आश्रम में लौटते ही शिष्यों ने उनसे पहले दो स्थानों पर हँसने व फिर रोने का कारण पूछा। वे बोले-'बेटा पहले दो स्थानों पर तो मात्र आडम्बर था पर भगवान की प्राप्ति के लिए एक ही व्यक्ति आकुल दिखा- वह, जो रोगी की परिचर्या कर रहा था। उसकी सेवा भावना देखकर मेरा हृदय द्रवित हो उठा और सोचने लगा न जाने कब जनमानस धर्म के सच्चे स्वरूप को समझेगा।'
core of religion
A sage was traveling with his disciples in the Kumbh Mela. At one place he saw a Baba turning a garland. But that Baba would open his eyes again and again while turning the garland and see how much people have donated. The monk laughed and moved on.
A pandit ji was saying Bhagwat in front, but his face was mechanical. Even the words were not eating any association with the feelings, a group of disciples was sitting. Seeing them, the sages laughed and laughed.
After going a little further, this congregation found a man attending to the patient. He was washing her wounds and applying ointment. At the same time, he was comforting her again and again with his sweet voice. The sages kept looking at him for some time, their eyes trickling.
As soon as he returned to the ashram, the disciples asked him the reason for laughing at first two places and then crying. He said - 'Son, in the first two places, there was only pomp, but only one person appeared anxious to get God - the one who was taking care of the patient. Seeing his service spirit, my heart moved and started thinking that when will the public understand the true nature of religion.

एक बनिया था। भला था। भोला था। नीम पागल था। एक छोटी सी दुकान चलाता था, दाल, मुरमुरे, रेवड़ी जैसी चीजें बेचता था और शाम तक दाल-रोटी का जुगाड़ कर लेता था।
एक रोज दुकान बंद कर देर रात वह अपने घर जा रहा था, तभी रास्ते में उसे कुछ चोर मिले। बनिये ने चोरों से पूछा, ''इस वक्त अँधेरे में आप लोग कहाँ जा रहे हैं ?''
चोर बोले, ''भैया, हम तो सौदागर हैं। आप हमें क्यों टोक रहे हैं ?''
बनिये ने कहा, ''लेकिन एक पहर रात बीतने के बाद आप जा कहाँ रहे हैं ?''
चोर बोले, ''माल खरीदने।''

बनिये ने सारी बातें कागज पर लिख लीं और लिखा हुआ कागज जेब में डाल लिया। बाद में सब चोरी करने निकले। चोर एक घर में चोरी करने घुसे और बनिया दूसरे घर में चोरी करने पहुँचा। वहाँ उसने ठीक वही किया जो कागज में लिखा था। पहले पिछवाड़े सेंध लगाई। दबे पाँव घर में घुसा। दियासलाई जलाकर दीया जलाया। एक बोरा खोजकर उसमें पीतल के छोटे बड़े बरतन बड़ी बेफ़िक्री से भरने लगा। तभी एक बड़ा तसला उसके हाथ से गिरा और सारा घर उसकी आवाज से गूँज उठा। घर के लोग जाग गए।
सबने 'चोर-चोर' चिल्लाकर बनिये को घेर लिया और उसे मारने-पीटने लगे। बनिये को ताज्जुब हुआ। मार खाते उसने अपनी जेब में रखा कागज निकाला और उसे एक नजर पढ़ डाला। फिर तो वह जोश में आ गया। जब सब लोग उसकी मरम्मत कर रहे थे, तब बनिया बोला—
''भाइयों, यह तो लिखा-पढ़ी से बिलकुल उलटा हो रहा है। यहाँ तो उलटी गंगा बह रही है।''
बनिये की बात सुनकर सब सोच में पड़ गए। मारना-पीटना रोककर सबने पूछा, ''यह तुम क्या बक रहे हो ?''
बनिये ने कहा, ''लीजिए, यह कागज देख लीजिए। इसमें कहीं पिटाई का जिक्र है'' ? घर के लोग तुरंत समझ गए। उन्होंने बनिये को घर से बाहर धकेल दिया।
सोच-विचारकर किया कार्य कभी कष्टदायक नहीं होता है।

Finding a sack, he started filling small and big brass vessels in it with great carelessness. Just then a big pad fell from his hand and the whole house reverberated with his voice. The people of the house woke up.
Everyone shouted 'chor-chor' and surrounded Baniya and started beating him. Baniya was surprised. He took out the paper kept in his pocket and read it at a glance. Then he got excited. When everyone was repairing it, the bania said-
"Brothers, this is going completely the opposite of what is written and read. Here the opposite Ganges is flowing.
Hearing about Baniya, everyone got confused. Everyone stopped beating and asked, "What are you talking about?"
Baniya said, "Take a look at this paper. Is there any mention of beating in this? The people of the house immediately understood. They pushed Baniya out of the house.
Thoughtfully done work is never painful.
(2) मच्छर की कहानी, (Story of mosquito)
क्या तुमको पता है कि केवल मादा मच्छर ही काटती हैं ? खून पीती हैं ?
बहुत पहले की बात है। वियतनाम के एक गाँव में टॉम और उसकी पत्नी न्हाम रहते थे। टॉम खेती करता था और पत्नी रेशम के कीड़े पालती थी। टॉम बड़ा मेहनती था, पर न्हाम जिंदगी में तमाम ऐशो-आराम की आकांक्षी थी।
एक दिन न्हाम एकाएक बीमार पड़ गई। टॉम उस वक्त खेतों में काम कर रहा था। जब वह घर लौटा, उसने पाया कि न्हाम अब इस दुनिया में नहीं है। टॉम घुटने टेककर ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करने लगा। तभी उसे आकाशवाणी सुनाई दी कि वह समुद्र के बीच स्थित एक विशाल पहाड़ी पर न्हाम का शव ले जाए।
कई दिनों की यात्रा के बाद टॉम न्हाम के शव के साथ उस पहाड़ी पर पहुँचा और एक खूबसूरत फूलों के बाग में ले जाकर शव को लिटा दिया। उसकी पलकें थकान से झपक ही रही थीं कि सहसा सफेद बालों तथा तारों-सी चमकती आँखोंवाले एक महापुरुष वहाँ प्रकट हुए। उन महापुरुष ने टॉम से कहा कि वह उनका शिष्य बनकर इसी जगह शांति से रहे। पर टॉम ने कहा कि वह अपनी पत्नी न्हाम को बेहद प्यार करता है और उसके बगैर रह नहीं सकता।
महापुरुष टॉम की इच्छा जानकर बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। उन्होंने कहा कि वह अपनी उँगली काटकर खून की तीन बूँदें न्हाम के शव पर चुआ दे। टॉम ने वैसा ही किया। तभी जादू-सा हुआ। खून की बूँदे पड़ते ही न्हाम उठ बैठी। तब महापुरुष ने न्हाम को चेतावनी दी कि अगर वह ईमानदार और मेहनती नहीं बनेगी तो उसे सजा भुगतनी पड़ेगी। यह कहकर वह महापुरुष वहाँ से अचानक गायब हो गए।
टॉम और न्हाम नाव पर बैठकर चल दिए। रास्ते में एक गाँव के किनारे उन्होंने नाव रोकी। टॉम खाने-पीने का कुछ सामान खरीदने चला गया। नाव में बैठी न्हाम टॉम के लौटने की प्रतीक्षा कर रही थी। तभी एक विशाल सुसज्जित नाव उसके पास आई। उस नाव का मालिक एक अमीर था। उसने न्हाम को अपनी नाव पर आकर चाय पीने की दावत दी। चायपान खत्म हुआ तो अमीर ने न्हाम से उसकी खूबसूरती की प्रशंसा की और उससे शादी का प्रस्ताव रखा। यह भी वादा किया कि वह उसे अपने महल की एकमात्र रानी बनाकर रखेगा। न्हाम का तो सपना ही था कि वह धनी महिला बने, उसकी सेवा में ढेरों नौकर चाकर हों। वह चट से उस अमीर का प्रस्ताव मान बैठी।
टॉम जब गाँव से चीजें खरीदकर लौटा तो एक बूढ़े नाविक ने उसे किस्सा सुनाया। टॉम न्हाम की धोखेबाजी से आगबबूला हो उठा। वह फौरन उस अमीर के घर की तरफ रवाना हुआ। कुछ ही दिनों में वह वहाँ जा पहुँचा। उसके महल में पहुँच उसने एक नौकर से प्रार्थना कि कि वह महल के मालिक से मिलना चाहता है। तभी अचानक न्हाम फूल तोड़ने के लिए बगीचे में आई और टॉम को वहाँ देख चकित रह गई। उसने टॉम से कहा कि वह यहाँ बेहद सुखी है और यहाँ से कहीं नहीं जाना चाहती।
टॉम ने कहा कि वह उसे कतई वापस नहीं ले जाना चाहता। वह तो अपने खून की तीन बूँदें वापस लेने आया है। वह न्हाम उसे लौटा दे। बस !
न्हाम इस बात से बेहद खुश हुई, 'चलो खून की तीन बूँदें देकर ही छुटकारा मिल जाएगा।' ऐसा कहकर उसने तुरंत अपनी एक उँगली में गुलाब का काँटा चुभोया और टॉम की बाँह पर खून टपकाने लगी। जैसे ही खून की तीसरी बूँद गिरी, न्हाम का शरीर सिकुड़ने लगा और वह मादा मच्छर के रूप में तब्दील हो गई। यही न्हाम की सजा थी। वह मादा मच्छर बनकर टॉम के सिर पर मँडराने लगी, जैसे भन्नाकर कह रही हो, 'मुझे खून लौटा दो ! मैं माफी माँगती हूँ, मैं माफी माँगती हूँ !!''
धोखाधड़ी हमें मौत की ओर ले जाती है।

It is from a long time ago. Tom and his wife Nham lived in a village in Vietnam. Tom used to farm and his wife reared silkworms. Tom was a hard worker, but Nham aspired for all the luxuries in life.
One day Nham suddenly fell ill. Tom was working in the fields at the time. When he returned home, he found that Nham was no longer in this world. Tom knelt down and prayed to God. Then he heard a voice from the sky asking him to take Nham's body to a huge hill situated in the middle of the sea.
After traveling for several days, Tom reached that hill with Nham's body and took it to a beautiful flower garden and laid the dead body. His eyelids were blinking with tiredness when suddenly a great man with white hair and eyes shining like stars appeared there. The great man told Tom that he should be his disciple and live in peace at this place. But Tom said that he loves his wife Nham very much and cannot live without her.
The great man was very pleased to know Tom's wish. He said that he should cut off his finger and sip three drops of blood on Nham's body. Tom did the same. Then magic happened. Naham sat up as soon as the drop of blood fell. Then the great man warned Nham that if she did not become honest and hardworking, she would have to face punishment. Saying this the great man suddenly disappeared from there.
Tom and Nham got on the boat and left. On the way, they stopped the boat at the edge of a village. Tom went to buy some food and drink. Nham was sitting in the boat waiting for Tom to return. Just then a huge equipped boat came to him. The owner of that boat was a rich man. He invited Nham to come on his boat and have tea. When the tea was over, the Amir praised Nham for her beauty and proposed marriage to her. He also promised that he would keep her as the only queen of his palace. Nham's dream was to become a rich woman, with many servants in her service. She readily agreed to the proposal of the rich.
When Tom returned from the village after buying things, an old sailor told him an anecdote. Tom was furious at Nham's deceit. He immediately left for the house of the rich man. Within a few days he reached there. Reaching his palace, he prayed to a servant that he wanted to meet the owner of the palace. Then suddenly Nham came to the garden to pluck flowers and was surprised to see Tom there. She told Tom that she was very happy here and didn't want to go anywhere.
Tom said that he didn't want to take her back at all. He has come to take back three drops of his blood. Give it back to him. bus !
Nham was overjoyed by this saying, 'Let's get rid of it only by giving three drops of blood.' Saying this she immediately pricked a thorn of rose in one of her fingers and started dripping blood on Tom's arm. As the third drop of blood fell, Nham's body began to shrink and she transformed into a female mosquito. This was Naham's punishment. The female mosquito began to hover over Tom's head, as if chirping and saying, 'Give me the blood! I apologise, I apologise!!"
