Ahead of the second and final phase of polling in West Bengal, a collage of two videos of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sayani Ghosh has gone viral. In the first part, she is seen singing a few lines from the popular Bengali folk song 'De De Paal Tule De', which says "Kaba is in my hearts and Madina in my eyes". In the second part, she is seen reciting the Hanuman Chalisa. While sharing the clip, users claimed that Sayani sang the first song before the first phase and was reciting the Hanuman Chalisa ahead of the second phase to woo Hindu voters.
The first phase of polling in Bengal was held on April 23, where the state saw a record 93.19% turnout.
In this context, a pro-BJP Facebook page, Pressstitutes, shared the video and wrote, “The power of 93% voter turnout. Last week: TMC's Sayani Ghosh sang "Kaaba in my heart, Medina in my eyes." After the first phase of voting: She is publicly reciting the Hanuman Chalisa. Due to the high voter turnout, she converted to Hinduism overnight from Islam. This is the power of united Hindu votes.”
Right-wing influencer Rishi Bagree and BJP supporter Zeenat Rana shared the video and wrote, “This is the effect of 93% voting.”

BJP spokesperson and state general secretary of BJP Delhi Mahila Morcha Vaishali Poddar, too, shared the video with the same claim.
BJP worker Pamela Goswami shared a similar video. She claimed Sayani Ghosh changed her campaign style after UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the folk song with Islamic references.

We performed reverse image searches on some key frames of the viral video.
We found the first video on AK Studio Assam 's YouTube Shorts uploaded on April 6, 2026. The channel also uploaded a longer video of a speech by TMC MP Sayani Ghosh on April 7. In it, she is seen singing a few lines from the Bengali song "De De Paal Tule De".
The caption and description of the video state that it was a TMC election public meeting at the playground of Jania High School in Barpeta, Assam.
Next, a keyword search revealed posts from Sayani Ghosh's X account and the official Facebook page of the All India Trinamool Congress's Assam unit, dated April 4, 2026. These posts stated that a pre-election rally had been organized for the party's candidate, Sherman Ali Ahmed, in Mandia assembly constituency in Barpeta, Assam. MP Sayani Ghosh and several other party workers attended the rally.
That is, the first part of the viral video where Sayani Ghosh is seen singing the Bengali song “De De Pal Tule De” is actually from a public meeting during a recent election rally in Assam. The footage is not from a rally in West Bengal.
Next, we conducted a reverse image search on some key frames from the second clip in the viral video. We found a longer version uploaded on April 24 on Sayani Ghosh’s X account. In this video, Ghosh is seen campaigning in support of Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata’s Bhabanipur constituency, and targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing it of being divisive.
In the full video, Sayani Ghosh is heard saying that the Bhawanipur area is so prosperous and peaceful that it is, in itself, a “mini India,” where people of every religion and community live together. From one household, one can hear: “रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि” “या देवी सर्वभूतेषु शक्ति-रूपेण संस्थिता, नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः” “या देवी सर्वभूतेषु शांति-रूपेण संस्थिता। नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः”.
Further in the video, Sayani Ghosh says that from the next lane, one can hear: “ला इलाहा इल्लल्लाह, मुहम्मदुर रसूलुल्लाह, बिस्मिल्लाहिर रहमानिर रहीम”, and right beside it, from another lane, one can hear: “जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुण सागर, जय कपीस तिहुं लोक उजागर. राम दूत अतुलित बलधामा, अंजनी पुत्र पवन सुत नामा. महावीर विक्रम बजरंगी, कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी. कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा, कानन कुण्डल कुंचित केसा.” And somewhere nearby, one can also hear: “इक ओंकार सतनाम करता पुरख, अकाल मूरत, अजूनी सभम, गुरु परसाद जप आड़ सच जुगाड़ सच, है भी सच नानक होसे भी सच”.
After reciting prayers from Hinduism, Islam, and Sikhism, Ghosh is seen asking the public whether they would hand over Bengal to the BJP. She asks: Will you allow space for discrimination? Will you allow division? Will you let it take root here?
In other words, a small portion of her speech containing lines from the Hanuman Chalisa has been clipped and shared out of context. In reality, she recited prayers from multiple religions. However, by presenting videos from two different election rallies in Assam and West Bengal as if they were both from West Bengal, BJP workers and Right-wing users are falsely claiming that after 93% polling in the first phase of elections in West Bengal, the TMC MP has shifted from singing for “Islamic supporters” to praising Hanuman during her campaign.
