A video is being circulated on social media where a man can be seen confessing to a murder. Users have claimed that the man in the video is Asad, the prime accused in the murder of 17-year-old Surya Pratap Chauhan in Ghaziabad.
Chauhan was stabbed in Ghaziabad's Khoda area on May 28, the day of Eid al-Adha, allegedly by Asad and his associates following an argument. According to the victim's family, the two sides knew each other and had been involved in a dispute some months prior. The victim's sister claimed Surya was lured to the spot on the pretext of an Eid celebration. "He was at home when he received a call asking him to come and celebrate Eid. He did not want to go, but they kept insisting, so he eventually left with them," she said, adding that seven people were present and that all of them were carrying knives. Asad was shot dead in a police encounter on May 31. Three others have been arrested in connection with the case, including Asad's father.
X user @Ridhu417Sharma amplified the video, saying, "This is India's scared Muslim, who are posting videos after committing murder."
Several others posted the video on X with the same claim.

Fact Check
A reverse image search of a keyframe from the viral video led us to an Instagram post from April 5. The caption identified the clip as Karan alias Tarun, 18, confessing to the stabbing and killing of a 20-year-old named Nitesh, also known as Nikki, in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area. Police said the attack stemmed from a dispute and that Karan had carried it out along with his associates. He was subsequently arrested.
This was also reported at the time by mainstream media outlets such as Times Now, NDTV, and India Today. According to NDTV's report, Karan Kumar and two other people, including a juvenile, stabbed Nitesh following an argument in the Shalimar Bagh police station area in North West Delhi on April 2. Nitesh was taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Following the incident, Kumar took to his Instagram, under the handle 'villain_dad_ok_109', to inform his 1,500 followers that he had killed someone ("tumhare bhai ne murder maar diya hai").
Kumar said in the Instagram story, "Dekho bhai, raat ke baj rahe hai 11.22 pm. Tumhare bhai ne ek murder maar diya hai. Tumhara bhai kuch din ke liye andar ja raha hai. To saare bhai pyaar dena, hain? (It's 11:22 PM. Your brother has committed a murder, and he is going away for a few days, okay? So, show your brother some love)," he said.
We looked up the handle 'villain_dad_ok_109' mentioned in the viral video. The Instagram profile also lists the username as Karan. Kumar also has a YouTube channel.
As it stands, the claims associated with the video circulating online linking it with the accused in the Surya Pratap Chauhan case are misleading. It is actually from approximately two months ago, where a young Karan Kumar, alias Tarun, stabbed a 20-year-old Nitesh in Delhi and confessed it in a video uploaded to his Instagram handle.
