Rajasthan police's claims that Elvish Yadav video 'old and AI‑generated' false

By Abhishek Kumar on 19th February 2025

YouTuber Elvish Yadav's vlog on his visit to Rajasthan has sparked a major controversy. The video, titled "Rajasthan Me Full Protocol" shot during his recent visit to the state and uploaded on February 10, has left many questioning the workings of the Rajasthan Police in matters that are in no way connected to the state government.

The vlog shows Yadav, who was in Rajasthan to shoot a music video, travelling in a car with Krishnavardhan Singh Khachariyawas, son of former Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas. However, the car, driven by the former minister's son, is escorted by a vehicle belonging to the state police. Khachariyawas can be heard explaining that the police escort vehicle will change as they pass through different areas. This had many wondering why the police, funded by the state, was being used for such things.

Why the video has raised alarm

    • Special police facilities provided to YouTuber Elvish Yadav and ex-minister's son

Several frames in the vlog show at least one police escort vehicle accompanying the car driven by the former minister's son and Yadav. From the video, we were able to determine that a Rajasthan Police Bolero (Chetak-14) was used in the beginning. A white Rajasthan Police Bolero with a yellow registration number (RJ14TF5324) was also used while another police Bolero with a white license plate accompanied them after they returned from the music video shoot. So, that much is clear and certain that the Rajasthan Police did escort Elvish Yadav. At the end of the vlog, Khachariyawas can also be heard saying that a police vehicle would drop Yadav to Gurgaon and a police vehicle leads his convoy from Jaipur to Gurgaon.

According to protocol, police escorts are provided only in certain circumstances. So, them being deployed here doesn't make sense.

    • Use of beacons in private vehicle
In the video, a private vehicle carrying Yadav and the former minister's son has a beacon, which is used several times. For some years now, the use of beacons and sirens is only permitted for certain class of vehicles and used in emergencies. It is illegal for private vehicles to use it. However, police personnel present there do not intervene or object to this, which raises questions about their commitment to upholding the law and whether they are trying to promote 'VIP culture'.
    • No payment at toll plaza
At one point in the video, when the convoy passes through a toll plaza, a policeman in the escort vehicle signals to the employees at the toll booth to let Yadav's vehicle pass. So, the car carrying the YouTuber, with the siren on, passes through without paying the toll, flouting the law.
    • Violation of traffic rules
In the video, the former minister's son can be seen violating traffic rules, including driving on the wrong side of the road in Transport Nagar and using his influence to get the way cleared in front of the police. Such things not only undermine law but also raise questions on accountability and misuse of influence. Here's the full video:

    Rajasthan Police's Denial

After the video went viral, Jaipur Police took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air. Responding to journalists, they claimed that several videos were edited using artificial intelligence to spread misleading information. In a likely attempt to pressure scribes, they warned that the cyber crime department would take strict action against those spreading misinformation. As a result, one of the journalists, who first drew attention to the incident, deleted their tweet.

In a press conference, Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph also denied the allegations, saying that the video in question was not recent, calling it an attempt to misrepresent old footage as current to damage the reputation of the police. He indicated that action would be taken against Elvish Yadav.

Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner of Police Rameshwar Singh said that police escorts are provided only under specific conditions and claimed that Rajasthan Police made no such arrangements for the YouTuber.

    Is the Police Lying?

Clips of the incident shared by journalists have been taken from Elvish Yadav's vlog itself. Contrary to police's claims, these clips have not been edited using AI. Also, the police has not provided any substantial evidence to show that nothing such as this happened or that AI was indeed used.

Elvish Yadav's vlog has enough evidence to show that police escort vehicles were there so the police's denial of is clearly not true. Ironically, it is titled "Rajasthan me full protocol" to show the kind of police 'assistance' Yadav received. Instances of police vehicles driving ahead of Yadav's car throughout the video are not coincidences. Remember that the police also helped Yadav's vehicle pass through toll plazas without paying, refuting the police's claims that no escort was provided.

Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph saying that the videos are old is also misleading. There are several clues in Elvish Yadav's vlog to indicate that the video is indeed from his recent visit to Jaipur.

For instance, in the vlog, Elvish Yadav says that he was in Jaipur for a music video shoot. The video captures his journay and visit to Lohagarh Fort Resort and Sambhar Lake where the music video is being shot. In the vlog, Prince Narula also makes an appearance and is seen donning a black kurta along with Yadav. In an Instagram story on February 8, Narula shared a video where he says that he was at the Lohagarh Fort Resort to shoot a music video with Yadav and Pranjal Dahiya. We contacted the resort and confirmed that Elvish Yadav was there for the shoot on February 8 and 9. This contradicts the claims made by the police that the vlog shows old footage.

Apart from Yadav's vlog, many social media users also shared pictures and videos from the shoot, in which Yadav and Narula are seen wearing the same clothes as in the vlog. These details make it clear that the vlog was of their recent visit to Jaipur and not old.

Also, on February 10, former Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas posted a picture with Elvish Yadav on X and said that he met the YouTuber at his Jaipur residence. In this picture, Yadav is wearing a black pullover jacket with blue stripes, which is the same one he is seen wearing in the vlog while being escorted by the police along with the former minister's son Harshvardhan Khachariyawas.

Lastly, in the vlog, Pratap Khachariyawas's son is seen in the same clothes -- a t-shirt with thick white stripes -- when the police escort vehicles are there and when him and Yadav visit a hospital. Here, the camera takes a close-up shot of a patient health monitor, in which the date, February 10, is visible. This further cements the fact that the vlog was recorded on February 10 and the police claims that the footage is old are baseless.

What former minister Pratap Khachariyawas and his son said

Denying any involvement in the case, former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said that Elvish Yadav came to meet him often and that as a politician he interacts with many. The Congress leader further added that neither him nor his son requested to be escorted by the police and since his government was not in power in the state, he had no idea why a police vehicle was escorting Elvish Yadav and his son. Passing the baton, he said that people should question the Rajasthan government, under the BJP, or Elvish Yadav why a police vehicle was escorting them.

    Rajasthan Police's cover-up FIR

The Rajasthan Police has filed an FIR against Elvish Yadav for allegedly spreading misleading information and damaging their reputation. However, it seems that the FIR is a strategic act to save the image of the police and avoid a media trial.

Yadav's vlog has ample evidence that can aid an independent investigation. The police also have the necessary resources to examine CCTV footage from various locations. But an unsatisfactory story has been presented to the media, along with attempts to obfuscate the facts, which reflects lack of genuine intent to actually pursue a comprehensive and thorough investigation.
