Another X user, Hindu hero, (@SuperBrahmin) posted the same claim. (Archive)

Shesh Paul Vaid (@spvaid), the former director general of police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, amplified this viral claim, calling it an unique agreement. His tweet was viewed 92,000 times at the time of publication. However, it was later deleted by the user.

    Fact Check

First, we ran relevant keyword searches to see if there were any credible news reports on the alleged contract, but could find none.

Instead, the keyword search led us to this article published by Business Standard on August 20. It reports that Indian defence minister Rajnath Singh had met his Japanese counterpart, Shinjiro Koizumi, in New Delhi, to discuss bilateral strategic partnership. The discussion was largely focused on the Indo-Pacific region, and saw the two signed a "memorandum of arrangement" on maritime security. The report does not mention any "contract" that allows 50 million Hindus to settle in Japan.

News on Air, the news service of All India Radio, also reported on the meeting, on August 20. Citing growing vulnerabilities and efforts to stifle freedom of navigation, the memorandum had reportedly been signed as a strategic imperative between the two countries to ensure co-operation in the Indo-Pacific region.

On further investigation, Alt News came across an Associated Press report, published in August 2025, which states that at the India-Japan Economic Forum in Tokyo, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi had signed a total of 11 documents, and released a “joint vision” of cooperation for the next decade in areas spanning security, defense, clean energy, technology and space.

Further, the Union ministry of external affairs (MEA) also published a media release on the discussed points on August 29, titled "Action Plan for India — Japan Human Resource Exchange and Cooperation". Reportedly, the MEA and the Japanese foreign ministry agreed to promote the efforts of various entities in government, industry, and academia to "...increase the number of skilled personnel and potential talents from India to Japan by 50,000 over the next five years." The proposed plan covers students, researches, skilled professionals, easing worker visas, boosting Japanese-language training in India, and setting up support systems for Indians in Japan.

Nowhere in the AP report or in the press release is it mentioned that the two countries had signed a "contract" allowing 50 million Hindus to settle in Japan. In other words, a video from the aforementioned meeting between Singh and Koizumi is being circulated with an entirely fabricated claim.
